EAGLES HALBERG DAY GISBORNE 2019
This was held at the Poverty Bay Golf Club on 24th March which turned out to be a glorious day on which the taxing summer heat had eased somewhat. We had a reasonable turnout of players considering the opposition that was also operating. This included the beaches and sea, the essential rescue helicopter fund raiser (held on the previous Friday) as well as several groups engaged in major horticultural enterprises.
The course was well set up and President Brian ran a BBQ with one hand and had the other hand in players pockets for donations at the target 6th hole.
It is pleasing to note that 3 of the young prizewinners have played in the Eagles U17 system – namely:
-
- Peter Kerekere who scored a 67 playing off scratch, including a back nine of 31
-
- Tessa McDonald playing of a 2 handicap scored a 74: and
-
- Ellen Ball with a net 66
And the every experienced Eagle Peter Harrison who produced 90-26-64 for 44 stableford points and swept all before him.
To win a prize required 37 stableford points for women and 40 pints for the men.
A well performed group from the Waikohu Golf Club took out the Bob Grierson Memorial Trophy with 156 points. The team was:
Audrey Tamanui-Nunn 33 Margaret Tuapawa 42 Valerie Grace 43 Larry Green 38 Thanks to all for coming.
